Claude Code

Get notified when Claude Code needs input.

The open-source Smoke Signal plugin sends a push notification when Claude Code reaches a permission prompt, asks a question, waits for plan approval, or finishes a long task. With a Channel Decision, Claude can send a question with defined choices and wait for your answer.

  • Quiet at the keyboard

    A grace period cancels a pending alert if you respond first. Presence detection suppresses notifications while you are active on the computer.

    The bundled MCP tools let Claude create a Decision with two to four choices and wait. Your selected answer returns to the session.

Setup

Install the plugin and pair a Channel.

Install the open-source plugin from its public marketplace, then pair it with a Channel.

    Install the plugin

    Run these commands in your terminal.

    Create a Channel

    Create a Channel for Claude Code in Publisher settings. Open it, choose Connect, then Get a pairing code.

    Connect it to your account

    Run /smoke-signal pair with the NXXXX-XXXXX code in Claude Code. The code works once, expires in minutes, and exchanges for a key stored on this computer.

    Step away

    Notifications stay suppressed while you are active at the keyboard. Use /afk on to send them immediately while you are away.

Decisions

Answer Claude Code Decisions from your phone.

When Claude reaches a question only you can answer, it sends a Decision with two to four choices to the installed app and waits. Select an answer, and the session continues with the selected action.

The Decision tool waits until you answer, the Decision expires, it is cancelled, or the maximum wait ends. If you answer at the keyboard first, the plugin can cancel the pending Decision.

Requirements and limits.

  • The plugin source is MIT-licensed: github.com/smoke-signal-app/agent-plugin.
  • Set the origin to your own server if it implements the documented endpoint shapes.
  • Free for individuals. No card required.
  • Rate limits apply.
